Board of Directors

The Point Loma Foundation has a five-person Board of Directors. The terms are as follows: two for one year; and three for two years. Thereafter, as each of the initial directorships expires, the replacement shall be elected for a two-year period.

Profiles:

Klonie Kunzel is a second-generation San Diegan who has lived in Point Loma since 1961. One of the founders of the Point Loma Association, Klonie’s interests lie in the history of San Diego (and Point Loma particularly). Klonie is the past president of the San Diego Historical Society, Chair of the La Playa Trail Association, and volunteers for many other organizations in Point Loma. A mother of four, Klonie has been active in the travel profession for more than 30 years.

Ted Kay lives near Point Loma Nazarene University with his wife and two children. He served on the board of the Point Loma Association for seven years, with terms as Treasurer and Secretary. When he is not working or spending time with his family, Ted enjoys being involved in community projects that make Point Loma a great place to live.

Kerri De Rosier is a community volunteer and writer/editor who edits/writes the Point Loma Association newsletter and e-blasts. She has volunteered for the Point Loma Summer Concerts since their inception, and is a strong supporter/booster for music in Point Loma schools. She is the booster president for Vocal Point, Point Loma High School’s choir, and has advocated tirelessly for music in Point Loma schools. Kerri is currently pursuing a certificate in teaching writing so she can help students learn how to write.

Richard Stakelum, Ed.D. is a community supporter who is the director of Ride the Point, an annual local charity bicycle ride. He is a past-president of the Point Loma Rotary Club, a member of the Point Loma Association, and a San Diego County Bicycle Coalition board member. His interests include community involvement, volunteerism, and supporting local capital improvement projects.

Mission Statement
This corporation shall support or provide programs providing education and services to the public, and in particular relating to education, beautification, historical preservation and landscape and the support of programs which assist government agencies in the establishment, funding and maintenance of beautification and landscape programs on public property.
